Modern Outdoor Comforts

One thing that this new "Mod Abode" venture has done for me, is to make me try and slow down and capture life. For twelve years, I've been capturing other peoples' kids, families and weddings, and making sure that my photos tell a story for my clients. Far too often, when I get a "break" from work, the last thing I want to do is to pickup my camera and capture life in my house. How crazy is that?! You've heard it before--the photographer that has no photos of her own family! I'm grateful to have found this new appreciation for photography after calling it my profession for so long.

Earlier today, I caught Dexter cutting Peyton's hair in the basement. His big brother's scissors have been his latest fascination. After two weeks of picking up paper scraps everywhere in the house from said fascination, today he decided to give our pup a new 'do! Ahhh!! Luckily she was fine and there was no blood shed. Then this evening, I caught this moment between Dexter and Peyton. He's clearly taunting her with his string cheese. Life is definitely always exciting around here with two little boys. I'm so happy that I caught these moments this evening

It makes me happy to see that our boys love the outdoors. Sure, they love to watch movies and play on the iPad, but for the most part, they are "all boy" and LOVE the great outdoors. Their favorite place to sit is in this Encase Swing Chair that I found at All Modern. Our modular furniture has held-up so well over the past three years, and I found it for a great deal at Urban Furnishing. I love the colors and patterns from the pillows that I found at Target. Our glossy navy planters are from CB2
